Flooded handicapped parking space

– News about Quincy from Quincy Quarry News.

Quincy City Hall handicapped parking long dissed and is now flooded.

Mothers’ Day Swan Boat rides were not the only things that were flooded out this past Sunday.

While the at one point near apocalyptic rainfall expected from a passing Nor’easter on Mother’s Day was not quite as much as had been forecast as the storm approached, it was still more than enough to continue to make things difficult for those with handicapped parking placards or license plates who seek to park as close as the not so close parking set aside for them so as to access City Hall.

In this case, the limited handicapped parking available near City Hall is prone to flooding.

The problem is that the relatively new paving along the recent, expensive and continuing to run way behind schedule Hancock Street Misalignment project was not properly graded and thus stormwater is unable to drain properly.

Quincy Quarry News personnel considered reaching out to someone in Quincy’s City Hall for comment; however, the Quarry’s City Editor said not to bother wasting time as those with disabled parking tags have long but unsuccessfully complained to City Hall over the variously both limited as well as problematic access accommodations which by law are supposed to be provided to the disabled.

One can instead only assume that providing City Hall VIP parking is of far greater concern to City Hall.

Even so, the ever-growing legions of Quincy Quarry readers can expect it to continue to both follow the lack of handicapped accommodation to City Hall provided by City Hall as well as deservedly exposé all but certain future shortcomings as appropriate.
