Dorchester rents drop. Will Quincy’s be doing likewise?

Quincy Quarry’s media brethern at the Dorchester Reporter has reported that given new development as well as renovations that residential rental rates have dropped by four to five percent in Dorchester over the past year in the wake of a sizeable increase throughout Boston in the year prior.

With residential prices seen as moderating in Boston as well as in nearby suburbs, is the bloom off the rose for the recent boom in housing demand throughout Greater Boston and thus also the prices paid for same?

If so, such would not bode well for Quincy given the massive amount of new and mostly premium rate rental units that have come onto the market locally in recent years as well as for the at least a couple thousand more anticipated to come onto the market over the next few of years.
