The Supreme Judicial Court has decided that the Massachussetts’ anti-SLAPP law shields bloggers from lawsuits intended to silence them from championing a public, rather than personal, cause. 

 

A scientific consulting firm argued that it should be able to pursue a defamation claim against the bloggers, relying on SJC precedent that had muddied the waters.  The Supreme Judicial Court cleared the water by deciding in favor of Free Speech and thus against the consulting firm.
