– News and commentary about Quincy from Quincy Quarry News

Just when one thought that things could not become any worse in Quincy Center, they of course did become even worse.

For but starters, the South Shore Broadsheet reported on how several key projects necessary in the perhaps eventually actually happening New Quincy Center were running late, if not wicked late even per the Koch Maladministration’s all but invariably typical tardiness.

While this news did not come as a surprise to any of the growing legions of loyal Quincy Quarry readers as well as that the Quarry shared the underlying problems with the broadsheet, Quincy Quarry will now up the ante:  expect the underground utility work currently underway in front of Quincy’s City Hall to end up costing around a million more than the $4.2 million state grant that was supposed to cover the cost.

How, however, this cost overrun is to be covered or those also expected to be likely to occur on the other two running late projects exposed in the broadsheet remains to be exposéd.

And as for other troubling problems in Quincy Center, Quincy Quarry covered its discovery of discarded drug paraphernalia near Quincy High School.

Additionally, Quincy Quarry’s media peers and friends at Fox 25 returned to the Q to again do another exposé of the problems with crosswalk signals at local intersections.

But it is not all bad news this week in the Q – at least not outside of Quincy Center – as Quincy Quarry was apparently the very first to feature coverage of the return of Howard Johnson’s to Quincy, its birthplace some ninety-one years ago.

HoJo’s finally returns to the Q!

Unfortunately, this Howard Johnson’s motel will not be bringing back HoJo’s 28 flavors of ice cream back to the Q.

On the hand, Quincy’s mayor did take the time to probably eat some doughnuts at the latest Dunkin’ Donuts® to open up in the Q.

That and as well as always, Quarry Quincy continues to provide the stories that have made it Google’s top-ranked the source for News about Quincy.

Unfortunately, however, more often than not the breaking news is not good news for the long suffering residents of the Q.
