– News about Quincy from Quincy Quarry News

Quincy serial tree killings continue rampant as well as are now targeting seniors.

The carnage caused by both this summer’s drought as well as city workers’ apparent slacking on seeing newly planted trees along the Hancock Street Misalignment project in Quincy Center watered is now expanding to elsewhere in the Q.

As documented by exclusive Quincy Quarry photojournalism, the now also branching out to include senior tree killings is fast approaching the carnage caused by both Dutch Elm Disease in decades past as well as more recent less than green tree killing decisions made by the Koch Maladministration.

Further troubling is with Tropical Storm Hermine fast approaching Eastern Massachusetts and so giving rise to high wind warnings, one can only properly fear the potential of massive damage so inflicted upon a number of the already dead as well as other barely hanging on dehydrated trees throughout the Q.

On a bright note, City of Quincy Park and Forestry, Department of Public Works and private tree service contractors are surely salivating over the potential for extra income for many months to come from both removing the dead wood as well as planting new wood.

Unfortunately, one can only assume that this summer’s drought and impending high winds will continue to decimate local foliage.

As such, will this arguably impending botanical disaster also decimate fall colors?

If so, leaf peepers tourism revenue this coming fall could fall dramatically as there may soon be precious few leaves left to see given the decimation caused by this summer’s  drought and the expected to be multiple days of high winds care of of the impending Tropical Storm Hermine Nor’easter.

Quincy Quarry considered reaching out Discover Quincy, the city-subsidized tourism promoting operations run out of the Quincy Chamber of Commerce, for comment but then decided that there was no point waiting for a return call that would all but assuredly never come.

Regardless, expect Quincy Quarry to otherwise continue to cover the impacts of the record-breaking drought of the Summer of 2016.
