“Dog logs” along Wollaston Beach
A Quincy Quarry News file photo image

In the wake of Quincy Mayor Thomas P. Koch’s ill-timed going public earlier this week with his long known to Quincy Quarry News plans to endeavor take Wollaston Beach from the State of Massachusetts without paying the state for it while at the same time so sticking local taxpayers with paying likely millions a year to pay for maintaining the beach, Wollaston Beach and two other Quincy beaches have tested off the charts for “Bacterial Exceedance.”

In the case of Quincy beaches, Bacterial Exceedance is a bureaucratic euphemism for sewerage leakage in the wake of rain events overwhelming local sewer capacity.

How much of a problem is leaking sewerage in Quincy?

Two years ago the City of Quincy signed off on an at least $100 million lawsuit settlement agreement with the United States Environmental Protection Agency to fix long ongoing local deficiencies with the local sewer system over roughly the next dozen years.

In short, Quincy also loves that dirty water.
