Correia was arrested earlier this year for allegedly defrauding investors in a smartphone app he developed.  He refused to step down and subsequently survived a recall election.

The 27-year-old was also arrested more recently on charges of shaking down potential marijuana store owners hoping to do business in the Fall River.

Correia has called the charges “politically motivated.”

Additionally, last week, a judge denied the City Council’s request for an order that would temporarily oust Correia from office.

Even so, Correia is expected to announce that he will be taking a leave of absence and suspending his re-election campaign.

As such, Quincy Quarry can only assume that even more charges are impending.

That or perhaps Correia has cut a plea deal with the feds.
