Boston Mayor Marty Walsh’s campaign fund spends big with a campaign fundraising firm that employs his girlfriend.
The Boston broadsheet reports that Boston Mayor Marty Walsh is increasingly spending more from his campaign account to pay a campaign consulting firm which employs his longtime significant other.
Records indicate that Mayor Walsh’s campaign fund has spent $900,000 with the consulting firm since 2013 and which in turn accounts for roughly half of the firm’s total business over that same time period.
The three-person shop oversees the operations of Mayor Martin Walsh’s campaign office and its campaign mailings, among other tasks.
While problematic, Mayor Walsh and his longtime consort are not married.
Moreover, by local standards, such barely registers on the meter.
For example, a former longtime United State House of Representative for the Quincy and adjacent communities long paid his ex-wife and certain of their children to assist the congressman’s activities.
And for another, a reasonable review of Office of Campaign and Political Finance records indicate that in recent years Quincy Mayor Thomas P. Koch is the most – if not by far the most – often named recipient of “straw” campaign donations per OCPF consent agreements reached with the ultimate funders of these illegal campaign contributions.
