Granted, Beto O’Rourke raised a record amount of money during his campaign last year to win election to one of Texas’ two United States Senate seats last year while running against arguably the most detested member of the Senate among at least members of the Senate.

Beto was also widely seen as charismatic during the campaign.

Even so, he still lost in an admittedly close race for a progressive Democrat running for the Senate in the Red River state that is Texas and close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades.

Slate further suggests O’Rourke not only does not bring much to the Democratic party’s presidential nomination race, he will further dilute potential support for the mostly also ran as well as mostly younger Progressives in the race.

And in the meanwhile, geriatric progressive Bernie Sanders continues to maintain his quixotic 2016 Democratic primary draw as a campaign rally rock star.
