“Extremely Challenging” Fire Inside Mansfield Firehouse Destroys Engine, Gear

A fire truck caught fire inside a fire house in Mansfield early Wednesday morning.

 

In addition to the obvious irony, area media were grateful for unusual news on what was an otherwise slow news day.

The fire also provided a plug for smoke alarms as the fire station’s alarms alerted firefighters who were upstairs in the firehouse’s living quarters.

 

While there was considerable damage done to what is an old firehouse as well as the station’s equipment, the good news is that the station was slated to be replaced this summer by a new one as well as that there were no serious injuries.
