Quincy City Hall engraved memorial bricks dumped into landfill on a Quincy hill.

Courtesy of Quincy Quarry’s ever-growing legions of loyal Citizen Journalists, the Quarry has found out that unclaimed engraved memorial bricks that formerly as well as long graced the entryway to Quincy’s City Hall have been unceremoniously dumped for use as landfill at an ongoing City of Quincy road construction project.

After all, Quincy Quarry has all manner of sources in places both high but mostly low.

The site of the unceremonious ditching of the memorial bricks is along the under construction access way to the long-pending dog park and possible new municipal animal shelter on Quarry Street near the somewhat recently completed Avalon Quincy apartment complex roughly opposite the Quincy chapter of the Sons of Italy.

Quarry personnel readily as well as quickly spotted upwards of a hundred or more engraved memorial bricks on the surface of the dump site without having to do any digging or any other sort of consequential effort to find them.

Also, many of the engraved memorial bricks as well as plain ones were found in sound and thus looking to be readily reusable condition even if they were scattered among all manner of other construction debris.

Then again, as City Hall is on record as saying the bricks had been inventoried and stored away for reclaim, one can only reasonably assume that the bricks had once been neatly stacked and so ready for repurposing in a more honorable new use than as but landfill.

Quincy Quarry considered reaching out to City Hall for comment however, it was decided not to bother ending ignored or otherwise unable to reach anyone at City Hall who might be able to offer up on the record comment during this year’s long Christmas holiday weekend.
