Quincy’s Two City Halls have two Christmas Trees this year.

In the mad rush to put up Christmas decorations before Thanksgiving as well as to top Christmas decorations in Quincy Square as compared to years past, the City of Quincy has installed not one but rather two large outdoor Christmas trees adjacent to Quincy’s two City Halls.

An illogically placed Christmas tree

One was logically, easily, prominently as well as even attractively placed in the large lawn area in front of one of Quincy’s two City Halls.

The other, however, was inexplicably placed in a less than prominent spot as between The Church of the Presidents and old City Hall.

Additionally, doing so required digging up some of the recently completed and at least $27 million and still counting Kim Jong Koch Plaza.

That and inexplicably hog the space in front of these two buildings.

Yet another public safety hazard
A Quincy Quarry News photo

Additionally, in the mad rush to see the trees decorated before Thanksgiving, City of Quincy Park and Forestry personnel who were operating boom lifts around the tree between the Church of the Presidents and old Town Hall to decorate the tree positioned the two lift booms such that pedestrian traffic was all but forced to dangerously pass under the booms.

That and no Parks Department personnel were on the ground to direct people to use safe pathways around the lift booms.

Then again, public safety as well as adherence to applicable rules and regulations for same have long been of apparently little interest to certain local public servants during the era of the Koch Maladministration.
