Quincy Center MBTA parking garage demo project double parking along Burgin Parkway.

As if parking as well as traffic in Quincy Center was not already abysmally bad.

A loyal Quincy Quarry reader dimed out double parking along the Burgin Parkway side of the Quincy Center MBTA station.

While Quincy Quarry personnel knew better than confirm that those double parking along Burgin Parkway were construction workers working the demolition of the long condemned Quincy Center MBTA parking garage, it is reasonably safe to assume that they are construction workers and the Quarry team on the scene so avoided suffering any black eyes or other injuries by asking.

Regardless of who all are – in fact – double parking along Burgin, these double parkers are impacting already problematic traffic in Quincy Center by parking where parking is not posted as allowed along a heavily congested roadway that is infamous for its near non-existent shoulder.

No parking tickets issued or tows ordered …

Further troubling is that while the Quincy Police Department would appear to be aware of this problematic parking problem, no parking citations – much less towing any vehicles – appear to have been imposed.

Even further troubling is how Quincy City Hall has previously made much about developing a satellite offsite parking plan to accommodate both construction workers and various other employees working in Quincy Center given all manner of long ongoing construction and demolition projects in the center.

Then again, it is only fair to note that this is wicked far from the first time that plans announced by the Koch Maladministration did not work out anywhere near but even somewhat remotely close to as they were initially touted.

Regardless, count on Quincy Quarry to continue to monitor this ongoing traffic as well as public safety fiasco and report back as might be appropriate.
