City of Quincy flags not lowered for John McCain.

With passing of a Great American who spent over sixty years in the service of his county, governmental flags most everywhere have been lowered to honor John McCain in recent days and especially today, the day he is to be laid to rest at the United States Naval Academy on Annapolis, Maryland.

Quincy’s City Hall, however, apparently did not get the memo.

Mayor Koch actually getting some exercise?!?
A Quincy Quarry News file photo

Considering Quincy Mayor Koch’s love of the annual local Flag Day parade as well as his long wrapping the flag around himself metaphorically, three possible reasons come to mind as to why this inexcusably grave oversight happened.

One is simple carelessness and for which the Koch Maladministration is duly infamous.

Another would be someone lazily assuming no one would notice City Hall not doing so as has long been fenced off from public view given long ongoing construction around it.

An O’Mahoney/Patriot Ledger image

And finally, perhaps City Hall is just following the White House’s lead.

Regardless, as well as like or dislike the original “Maverick”, there is no excuse to so diss John McCain.

None whatsoever.
