Quincy nail shop breaks!

The usual Monday morning commute chaos in Quincy become even more chaotic when the masonry facade of a local nail shop collapsed onto both the sidewalk and street in the 600 block of Hancock Street this morning around 7:30 AM.

Northbound vehicular traffic was closed off and bus shuttle traffic disrupted given the rumble.

Fortunately, Quincy Fire Department Deputy Fire Chief Gary Smyth said no one was injured and no cars were damaged.

Also fortunate, local schools are closed for summer vacation and thus the morning commute traffic was less congested.

Unfortunately, Smyth warned that the entire street would likely have to be blocked off later today to facilitate the heavy equipment needed to remove the debris.

Unclear, however, is how the at least temporary closing of this nail shop will impact local manicure business, especially when locals return from summer vacations and might be in need of a mani/pedi.
