– News about Quincy from Quincy Quarry News

Quincy racked by storm.

Last night’s nor’easter caused widely scattered damage.

While as of 7 AM this morning only 800 Quincy National Grid customers were without power, it would appear that city assets were particularly hard hit.

Broken limbs of city trees along local streets both littered the ground as well as that at least one ended up hanging by a wire.

Further, the city-owned and located on city property crèche lost half of its roof.

The damaged sections of roof ended up littering the grounds of the historic Hancock Cemetery.

Even more amazing is how this particular damage adjacent to City Hall was not cleared first thing in the morning after the storm as is all but invariably the case whenever snow falls upon City Hall.

Then again, the roof did land in the cemetery as opposed to anywhere on City Hall grounds.

Regardless, expect Quincy Quarry to continue to monitor the storm damage as well as perhaps report on it as might be appropriate.
