Paul Manafort ordered to be held in jail over obstruction charges.

Manafort, President Trump’s former campaign chairman, had his bail revoked after he was accused of trying to influence the testimony of two of the government’s witnesses in his case.

In the wake of Special Council Robert Mueller’s prosecution team recently filing accusations of witness tampering, US District Judge Amy Berman Jackson Friday revoked Manafort’s bail and which had allowed him to stay out of jail on house arrest.

“The harm in this case is harm to the administration of justice and harm to the integrity of the court system,” Berman Jackson told Manafort in court earlier today.

“This is not middle school.  I can’t take his cell phone,” Judge Berman Jackson said of Manafort.  “I thought about this long and hard, Mr. Manafort.  I have no appetite for this.”

While admittedly just pretrial incarceration while awaiting trial, Manafort is still the first person tied to the various scandals revolving around President Donald Trump to be jailed.

Following the judge’s order, US marshals led Manafort out of the courtroom into the prisoner holding area immediately after the judge’s ruling.

Moments later, a marshal returned to give Manafort’s wife his wallet, his belt and the burgundy tie he was wearing during the hearing.
