The FBI has obtained secret wiretaps of conversations involving Alexander Torshin, a deputy governor of Russia’s Central Bank who forged close ties with US lawmakers, the National Rifle Association as well as all manner of other influential individuals and entities.

The wiretaps were undertaken by Spanish police during investigations targeting Alexander Torshin and Alexander Romanov, a convicted Russian money launderer. 

 

The Spanish were planning to arrest Torshin during a planned trip to Spain to celebrate Romanov’s birthday but Torshin cancelled his plans at the last minute and it is assumed that Torshin was tipped off by Russian officials who were aware of Spain’s planned arrest.

The wiretaps confirm that Donald Trump Jr. meet with National Rifle Association lifetime member Alexander Torshin during the National Rifle Association’s annual convention in Louisville in May of 2016, a top Spanish prosecutor said Friday.

 

Subsequently, the National Rifle Association spent roughly $30 million in support of Donald Trump’s presidential campaign with funds it is not required to disclose who provided the money.
