Quincy Quarry Weekly Fish Wrap: Super Bowl bust!

A big bust.

After two weeks of hype and local expectations rife for a six pack of bling for Tom and Bill, the Super Bowl turned out to be a bust for Patriots fans when the Philadelphia Eagles flew to an early as well as big lead and then rallied with a late score to regain the lead.

Even so, one has to concede that the game was well-played and trash-talking trolling was for the most part kept to a minimum.

Lost a bet

Needless to say, all manner of local entities’ public relations and self-promotional bet payoffs must now be consummated.

As for Quincy Quarry, its sports desk’s gimlet-eyed touts decision that the early line of 6½ on the over and under was just too enticing proved to be a good call.

Speaking of dogs and Vegas, some things that allegedly happened in Vegas did not stay in Vegas.

After first stepping down as Chair of the Republican National Committee’s fundraising efforts over a week ago, Vegas gambling mogul Steve Wynn then resigned his longtime position as the head of Wynn Resorts in the wake of the latest #metoo hit.

Will Wynn Casinos be allowed to open it?

In turn, while all manner of politicians and other state officials are still harrumphing about Wynn Resorts’ suitability to continue hold a casino license in Massachusetts, Quincy Quarry is the only media outlet in Eastern Massachusetts to suggest an investigation of the firm that was paid $4 million to conduct a due diligence investigation of Wynn.

Reasons include that not only have rumors of Wynn’s alleged history misbehavior long been floating about Las Vegas, Quincy Quarry’s private investigation consultant – and who is an international player when it comes to gambling and money laundering investigations – has never heard of the New York-based firm that the Massachusetts Gaming Commission used to vet Wynn.

On the other hand, there are rumblings that Wynn encouraged the use of this firm.

In any event, returning to local ethics and related events, the City Council approved the Koch Maldministration’s request to sell off roughly half of a typical local single family home-sized lot in Quincy that is located in Quincy Center opposite Quincy District Courthouse for but one single dollar.

What can one say other than that Valentine’s Day is next week.

Let’s make a deal!

And speaking of sweetheart deals, reliable sources report that the City of Quincy has agreed to pay $450,000.00 for a small parking lot out on the tip of Hough’s Neck.

So what if the rumored sale price is 50% higher than was tacitly broached last spring by the Koch Maladministration as the anticipated purchase.

Reasons for the likely budget-busting price include that apparently the seller needs to cover a number of debts and the Maladministration was all too willing to again help bail out another Friend of Tom.
