Four California lawmakers accused of misconduct but none facing punishment.
The #metoo movement looks to only scored a half a loaf in this latest sexual misconduct outing of elected officials in the no longer exactly Golden State.
As should come as no surprise to Massachusetts residents, all four California elected officials got off whereas eleven legislative staffers who were also targeted by complaints were instead mostly fired or suspended.
Similarly not surprising to Bay State residents, three of the four legislators were Democrats.
Additionally, two other Democratic legislators resigned last fall as allegations of sexual misconduct within the California State Legislature were first emerging.
Further not surprising is that while one of this Gang of Four is a Republican who is now running for Governor, most of the announced Democratic gubernatorial contenders have various sorts of sexual impropriety baggage in their respective pasts.
What is surprising, however, is that one of the accused Democratic elected official in this latest scandal is a female and that the primary (known, ed.) complaint about her was over her allegedly discussing something one would view as more likely to be a topic of discussion in – say – the South End or P-town rather than something discussed by a female legislator with her staff.
