Quincy snow plowing survey.

The Quincy Quarry’s exclusive Sled Dog Team news hounds braved yesterday’s somewhat less bitter frigid cold to survey the ever increasingly mean and now frigid streets of Quincy.

For the most park, major streets and many side streets were clear down to the pavement, at least down the middle of the street.

Curbside traffic lanes and parking lanes, however, were a mixed bag.

The same could also be said about sidewalks, at least where one can only assume there are sidewalks underneath often frozen hard piles of plowed snow.

So far, however– as well as amazingly, there have been no reports of vehicle strikes of pedestrians.

Then again, after nearly two weeks of below freezing temperatures, precious few people have been venturing outside on foot and thus the pickings have been slim for drivers.

As such, what is now of growing current concern among knowledgeable parties are the many now snow-covered and thus most likely so-clogged storm drains.   With the weather forecast calling for much less cold to almost boarding on somewhat close to almost spring-like temperatures warm in coming days, where is melting snow going to go given no place to drain.

After all, storm drains covered over by snow plows was said to be a common problem in the wake of Thursday’s bombogensis blizzard and record setting storm surge enhanced high tide.

As such, count on Quincy Quincy News’ exclusive Sled Dog Team News Hounds to continue to monitor things and then report back as might be appropriate.
