Minnesota United States Senator Al Franken hit with sexual assault accusations

Minnesota’s Democratic Junior United States Senator Al Franken has been hit with sexual assault accusations.

 

While the tsunami of #metoo accusations is far too lengthy to list herein as well as that the valid ones are abjectly inexcusable, this particular one about a one-time as well as longtime Saturday Night Live television show writer as well as ensemble member funny guy and now United States Senator does merit coverage given that his accuser is not joking around about her experience at the hands of an allegedly handsy – and worse – Franken.

A now Los Angeles-based anchor and sportscaster said Thursday that then working as a comedian Al Franken kissed and groped her without her consent during a USO tour in December 2006.

 

This, in turn, was but a bit less than two years before Franken was elected to the United States Senate. 

 

Further problematic as well as only adding fuel to fire of the accusation, Franken took a selfie of what he was doing while she was asleep on a military cargo plane flight that was returning from Afghanistan.

 

In response to a sudden deluge of criticism, Senator Franken has opted for a two-pronged response.

One prong was to claim he did not remember certain aspects of the accusation but then opted to apologize for them anyway.

 

And the other was that he was just trying to be funny as regards the selfie that he took.
