Quincy water main break goldmine for Sunday overtime.

While on the way to services early on Sunday morning so as to endeavor to save a likely already eternally damned soul, Quincy Quarry News personnel happened upon a water main break at the intersection of Quincy Avenue and Elm, Hancock and School Streets in front of the Firestone Tire shop on the edge of Quincy Center.

As one can see from the photographs taken at the scene of the water main leak, a typical complement of city employees was on the scene.

Actively working on fixing the leak, however, is a whole other matter.

Even so, sometime between Sunday morning and this morning, the leak was eventually stopped as well as pavement repairs made.

In any event, with winter fast approaching, one can only assume more water main breaks should be expected in the coming months given ground freezing and thawing as we head into and then come out of what a number of weather prognosticators have forecast is looking to be an especially harsh winter.
