Quincy Quarry Weekly Fish Wrap:  Voters go on Vacay!

This past Tuesday a primary election was held for local offices in Quincy.

Unfortunately for long suffering locals, the office of mayor was not on the ballot.

How much this may have played a role in over 85% of local voters not voting who the Q knows.

In any event, Quincy Quarry was still able to parse some insightful insights from the data on the small sample size of those who actually did bother to vote.

Key among the elections results is that most of candidates who survived the primary and will thus be advancing to the primary are the usual suspects.

Fortunately, there are a few new faces and one in particular who also appears to be actually qualified is within striking distance of upsetting the incumbent and whom residents in her district view as out of touch as well as all but MIA.

It probably also doesn’t help that this incumbent is the only (publicly, ed.) acknowledged Republican local office holder in traditionally Democratic Quincy.

Conversely, there is at best a mixed bag as regards the at Large city council seats.

While the two top vote getters in the at Large primary look to be all but locks to win two of the three at Large seats in spite of the lack of a record for one and the known one of the other, there is a scrum of three candidates vying for the third and final seat.

Curiously, all three in this scrum are female; even so, surely things will turn out to be a horse race as opposed to a cat fight as two of three have impeccable manners and thus one can only hope that this will keep the third in line.

And finally, about the only other local news worth reminding the every growing legions of loyal Quincy Quarry readers, the Quincy Police Department reached out to locals for help to identify armed robbery suspect who was caught on security camera video at the scene of the crime.

Unfortunately, however, so far apparently no one has stepped forward to identify the alleged perp and thus would appear to be complying the police department’s request two weeks ago that local citizens moderate their use of its “See Something, Say Something™” phone app.
