– News from elsewhere covered by Quincy Quarry News.

Today is a National Doughnut Day!

While National Doughnut Day is held to honor the Salvation Army Lassies who handed out doughnuts to doughboys during World War I, the day also has significance to Quincy as it is the home of the first Dunkin Donuts®.

And for those looking to enjoy what comes closest to artisanal doughnuts, be sure to check out WBZ’s top 5 picks for best doughnuts in the Greater Bosotn area and which includes Quincy’s own Donut King on Copland Street in West Quincy.

After all, who better than the media to know where to find a good doughnut and a decent cup of coffee for short money?

Today should also be a Red Letter Day for Quincy Mayor Thomas P. Koch.
