Quarry Weekly Fish Wrap:  Quincy Quarry Weekly Fish Wrap:  The Feds continue circling around the Q!

Things have been somewhat quiet around Quincy of late.  Even so, Quincy Quarry’s ever-growing legions of loyal readers knew that the local quietude would not last.

In fact, this time it’s personal as far as the Feds are concerned.

This time it’s personal …

After accepting a widely assumed to be pleading out by Dan FlynnFlam last month in exchange for tossing a whole lot of people under a likely fleet of buses, the long anticipated federal trial of the alleged double and sometimes triple detail dipper of a long suspended lieutenant in the Quincy Police Department has finally commenced.

Charges include the undue dipping of federal funds for personal benefit without actually showing up for duty, a huge Bozo no-no as far as the Feds are concerned.

Needless to say, as Quincy Quarry fearlessly covered FlynnFlam’s mea culpa and then sentencing in federal court last month, the Quarry will be covering the Dipper’s trial as close to gavel to gavel as can be scheduled.

That and hobnobbing with its media brethren during breaks in the action per the Quarry’s highly effective modius operendi.

Getting down and dirty

As for the trial itself, the all but universal consensus among both the knowledgeable and those just making reasonable assumptions is that the Dipper will likely end up going down slinging mud as well as considerably so.

The range of splatter should make for quite a scene for crime scene investigators as well as jurors to short out.

And as for the final body count, rumor has it that the number of subpoenas to appear at trial should prove to be considerable, interesting as well as embarrassing so for at least some of these subpoenaed.

In the meanwhile, how many fifths are to be pleaded as well as other sorts of fifths downed by those duly worried are as yet unclear as it would appear everyone has lawyered up and thus saying nothing to nobody.

On a brighter note, in the wake of Memorial Day harkening the unofficial start of summer, a new gourmet gelato and other tasty things victualler is opening up shop in Quincy Center!

As covered previously in the Quarry, the team members behind this new spot for foodies in Quincy Center are serious about their gelato.

Even better, Café Gelato will be offering three days of Grand Opening Specials!

| quincy newsA word to wise, however: with locally known gourmand extraordinaire Mayor Thomas P. Koch attending the official Grand Opening ribbon cutting ceremonies on Friday at 4 pm, those in the know surely know to show up as close to 4 pm as possible so as to endeavor ensure availability of free samples.
