Quarry Weekly Fish Wrap:  Q’ed up as usual in the Q?

In the wake of Quincy’s long time real estate grafter extraordinaire suffering felony jail sentencing in federal court last week, one would think people would learn – or least that this week might be a quiet one.

No such personal growth, much less luck, however.

For example, and as exposéd earlier this week by Quincy Quarry, the tearing up and redoing of much of the overly long construction of the Hancock Street Misalignment Project continues.

Similarly, while other parts of the state are seeing signs of an apparent decline in the opioid crisis as overdose death rates declined by ten percent in 2016, Quincy overdose death rate have stayed basically unchanged within the statistical margin of error as well as are subject to possible revision upwards as toxicological test results are completed and then reviewed.

Also disconcerting, the Koch Maladministration successfully extracted approval from the Quincy City Council to issue twenty-seven million dollars in new city debt as well as is now asking for eighty million more.

This is on top of fifty-nine million already approved earlier this fiscal year, a bit more here, there and elsewhere as well as another as much as twenty-five million more yet possible care of the Koch Maladministration’s yet to be duly detailed with actual cost projects but still possible to project to be at least two hundred and fifty million dollar five year Capital Improvement Plan.

But not to worry, Mayor Thomas P. Koch is often on record as saying that interest rates are so low that the City of Quincy cannot afford to not borrow gazillions of dollars for him to then quickly spend.

And yes, we all know who will be stuck with covering the nut for these many tens of millions of dollars in additional municipal debt.
