Quincy Quarry exposé on latest leak gets results?

In one of the quickest fixes ever following a Quincy Quarry exposé – outside of grifting a sweet development deal with City Hall, a water leak that was causing a flood in the middle of a run of street along the still ongoing Hancock Street Misalignment Project was fixed within but two days after the Quarry’s story hit the fan.

A longtime Quincy Quarry Citizen News Hound tipped off the Quarry that the repair work was underway.

Certain DPW workers doing what they are know for …

Unfortunately, the Quincy Quarry news team personal on duty at the time were working other stories and were thus not able to arrive on the scene until after the work was completed.

Such was most unfortunate as this particular Quincy Quarry Citizen News Hound reported that upwards of twenty people in total – ranging from Department of Public Works workers to various sorts of supervisors to police officers working a detail at this work scene – were seen mostly standing around the site of the leak and as at least certain DPW workers have a reputation for doing.

As for the leak itself, it was eventually resolved for at least the time being, the repair access hole filled and then the work site crudely repaved.

How long things may hold up, however, is a whole other matter.

The heavily betted against patch job
A Quincy Quarry News exclusive photo

Per Quincy Quarry’s general construction work quality consultant, he felt that there will likely be problems with the patch over time as it is in a particularly high traffic run of roadway at the outlet for Quincy Center MBTA station bus traffic.

That and he further suspects that there is a strong likelihood that proper material to fill and then duly compact inside of such a repair access hole was neither used nor properly done.

In any event, time will thus surely tell if the repair job was substandard on what is a still unfinished as well as expensive road reconstruction project or if further rework of the repair site is to be undertaken.

In the meanwhile, the smart money has already moved the chalk betting on substandard off the board.
