Quincy Center hit with latest serial tree killing victim?

As Quincy Quarry has long expod, arboreal assassinations have long plagued at Quincy, especially along the path of the running way late and still not finished Hancock Street Misalignment Project.

The latest victim appears to have been whacked, albeit perhaps only sideways.

Unfortunately, there are no obvious clues as to how this latest victim was knocked sideways.

For example, there were no readily obvious indications of an errant snow removal plow whacking the tree.

Regardless of how this particular tree was whacked, Quincy Quarry’s unofficial tally until leaves might or might not reappear this spring would suggest that upwards of roughly 20% of the mostly larger and thus more expensive trees planted last spring along the Hancock Street Misalignment Project have succumbed to various fatal ends, ranging from carelessness by landscapers to possible actions sinister.

Conversely, the usual mortality rate for a properly undertaken private sector landscaping project is in the low single digit percentage range.

Obvious implications include that the cost of the Hancock Street Misalignment Project will run higher given increased expenses incurred to replace the arboreal victims to the fact that there will long surely be obvious at least size differences between the tress that have (to date, ed.) survived the carnage and the (eventual, ed.) replacement trees.

As such, expect Quincy Quarry to continue to cover this long ongoing sorry as well as senseless slaughter of innocent trees.
