Snow fall overwhelms City Hall Snow Job SWAT Team.

While the path of yesterday’s storm wobbled westerly and so only dumped around half or so of the once forecast foot or more of snow before this overly-hyped storm’s precipitation turned from snow to sleet and then rain, City of Quincy snow removal resources appear to have been overwhelmed keeping up with an ultimately but middling snowfall.

For but one example from among many, in spite of having three mini snow plows deployed at Quincy’s two City Halls, the Department of Public Works personnel assigned to keep City Hall plowed fell short of this goal during the height of yesterday’s only somewhat significant snowfall accumulation maximum mid-afternoon and shortly before the snow turned to sleet and then rain.

Then again, as City Hall closed for the day at noon, there was no compelling reason to keep City Hall plowed other than to keep working towards the mayor.

So overwhelmed were DPW personnel that they could not even keep the City Hall VIP parking lot plowed down to the pavement as per their obviously apparent mandate to keep it cleared down to the pavement no matter what or when.

By contrast, however, a number of local businesses valiantly did their best to keep their sidewalks clear during the height of yesterday’s storm and for the most part these businesses did so.

At least they did bravely endeavor to keep their sidewalks clear until taxpayer-funded and so-called snow clearing resources later as well as yet again made a mess of things.
