Quincy street reconstruction project on Newbury Avenue appears to be fully completed.

After long dogging the City of Quincy for its typically running late to way late on its construction projects as well as also often going over-budget, Quincy Quarry for a change has at least somewhat arguably positive news to report on a local street reconstruction project.

The Quarry only just found out that a multiple construction season project to first replace underground utilities and then redo both the roadway and sidewalks on a short run of Newbury Avenue in North Quincy appears to have been fully completed sometime last fall.

For some inexplicable reason, however, City Hall did not stage yet another photo op announcing the completion of this particular municipal public works project.

After all, the prime directive of the Koch Machine’s Praetorian Guard is to protect the key beneficiary of this public works project from any potential as well as variously well-deserved public opprobrium.

After all, this recently redone residential street was in far better shape than most streets in Quincy before its reconstruction commenced and is now at the top of the heap post-reconstruction when compared to just about every residential street in Quincy.

Not only is the roadway’s asphalt new and well-done, but also well-done are the new concrete sidewalks at a time when many of the increasingly mean streets in the Q are also bounded by old as well as uneven – if not also thus dangerous – asphalt sidewalks.

Additionally, this street’s underground utility lines were also redone.

Quincy Quarry considered reaching out to Koch Maladministration spokesmodel Pinocchio Walkbacker for comment; however, it was quickly decided that there was no point wasting the Quarry’s valuable time waiting for a return call that will never be made.

Regardless, Quincy Quarry’s ever-growing legions of loyal readers can count it to exposé future newsworthy events in the Q and as only the Quarry has the stones to do.
