A Sunday parking miracle?

Quincy City Hall handicapped parking access doubled in the wake of Quincy Quarry exposés?

After numerous hard-hitting exposés and other knocks into the soft underbelly of the Koch Maladministration over suspect handicapped access, a Quincy Quarry reporter on the way to early church services this past Sunday happened upon a new handicapped parking space as close as one is provided to Quincy’s two City Halls.

While clearly an all but miraculous parking miracle as well as that this new handicapped parking space doubled the previous handicapped parking access relatively close to Quincy’s two City Halls, two handicapped spaces in total are still but two spaces.

Quincy Quarry considered reaching out to City Hall for comment, but the City Editor saw no point wasting time left on hold or waiting for a response to a voice mail message that never is made.

Instead, the City Editor tasked one of its legions of student interns to review the Quincy Quarry photo archives.

Granted, the photo archives were less than comprehensive.

Additionally, the Quarry was not monitoring this particular run of curb space with the expectation of a handicapped parking miracle happening.

Even so, it was still possible to reasonably discern that this new handicapped parking space was provided sometime after the holidays, if not well after.

Similarly, the holes punched through the relatively new pavement to install these handicapped parking-only street signs appeared to be even newer than the asphalt and thus further indicting a relatively recent installation of these parking signs.

Soft underbelly?

When, however, City Hall is going to do something about how the recently renovated Old City Hall appears to – at minimum not be operated in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (“ADA”) remains to perhaps someday be seen.

In the meanwhile, expect Quincy Quarry to continue to exposé City Hall over this as well as its myriad of other shortcomings.
