– News about Quincy from Quincy Quarry News

Quincy Square struck with yet another tree massacre.

For a change, it is clear who committed this latest tree massacre in Quincy Center: the Park and Wreck Department.

While the latest tree victims were ultimately Christmas props cut down and then propped up for the holidays, the holiday season was over six weeks ago.

Then again, the Koch Maladministration is not known for finishing its initiative on time.

Particularly gruesome was how the massacre was effected: the trees were all mulched in front of perhaps so horrified passersby.

Also, one could argue that this massacre was at least premature as these propped up cut Christmas trees still looked real enough as well as made somewhat bucolic the long purported eventual site of the at last report $15 million or so more to cost Hancock/Adams Green.

Where the funding to actually build the green is to be found, however, remains the $15 million or so question.

In any event, the sap was flying at the mulching massacre scene as well as that the saps who appear to have been in charge gave rise to all of the collateral carnage to new turf that was only just sodded last fall.

Then again, making work for overtime opportunities later has long been part of the Park and Wreck culture and thus so likely will yet again be the case to effect repairs to the collateral damage done during the latest tree massacre.

As always, expect Quincy Quarry to continue to cover the long ongoing series of serial tree killings in Quincy Center and thus concurrent as well as long ongoing sodding of taxpayers.
