– News and commentary about Quincy from Quincy Quarry News

Quincy storm preparedness both sparse as well as quiet before today’s storm.

Quincy Quarry News personnel braved the elements this morning to survey the scene at first light and so found the usual quiet before an approaching winter storm.

As usual, Quincy’s City Hall’s sidewalks were both well-cleared after Thursday night’s blizzard as well as now saltier than the Dead Sea.

Similarly, the City Hall VIP parking lot was thoroughly plowed as usual as well as is suspected of certain of its users; however, it was not also well-salted as is otherwise all but invariably also the case.

On the other hand, perhaps City Hall is endeavoring to moderate its blood pressure in light of both a recent event as well as not just one but two more anticipated to be stressful events.

Quincy Quarry considered reaching out to City of Quincy Department of Public Works Commissar Dan “Spanky” Raymondi for comment on the sudden change to a lower sodium use, but instead opted to give him a break as he will surely be suffering at least an earful over this latest performance anomaly.

A smooth road surface for a change …

In any event, elsewhere around Quincy, things were as locals are all too well-used to experiencing.

For but one example of the usual experiences, even though snow had already begun to fall while Quarry news personnel were out on the prowl for news, there were no signs of any snow clearing efforts underway this morning.

On the other hand, not clearing down to the pavement left one massively pothole-patched and thus bumpy busy side street in Quincy Center with a relatively smooth – albeit slippery – surface for a change.

Additionally disconcerting, most storm forecasts have been increasing their total snowfall projections as the second half of this weekend’s storm approaches and which is never a good sign.

Of further concern, at least another school Snow Day is only to be expected tomorrow and so giving rise to at least a five day weekend out of school for already stressed out parents.

Already Quincy Quarry is hearing reports of parents suffering Snow Daze Stress Disorder relapses

On the bright side, struggling local packages stores are experiencing a spike in sales in the wake of the usual post Super Bowl lull in sales.

Particularly disheartening was the lack of the usual massive dumping of salt on local streets as such is known to mitigate the sticking of compacted snow to pavement and so help with snow clearing efforts.

As such, one can only rightly worry about the condition of local roads come the always ugly no matter what Monday morning commute.

Similarly, one can only assume that curbside parking in already parking-scarce Quincy Center will not only continue to be detrimentally impacted by snow piles, circumstances will also surely only worsen even more for the disabled who are seeking handicapped parking spaces.

Regardless, expect Quincy Quarry to cover the news as snow covers the Q.

After all, not only is the Quarry well-known for having the stones to bravely cover the local news beat as breaking news continues to breaking badly for the long-suffering residents of the Q, Quincy Quarry is the only news source in Northeast with a dog sled news team.

As such, the Quarry is thus able to readily cover breaking news in the Q even when local roads become all but impassable.
