Quincy City Council faces Open Meeting Law complaint.

The complaint stems from the December meeting when the council set the city’s 2017 property tax rates.

As has been variously broached in recent weeks in Quincy Quarry’s widely read Quincy Quarry Weekly Fish Wrap series, the Quarry’s growing legions of loyal readers surely saw this latest Q-up by City Hall hitting the fan at some point as well as mostly likely sooner rather than later.

What do you mean they declined my City of Quincy AMEX Gold card?

Potential outcomes include that if the votes in question per this Open Meeting Law complaint are found to have been improperly taken, the first round of local property tax bills for this year have been billed without proper authorization.

In turn, the City of Quincy could find itself unable to (lawfully, ed.) both impose and then collect property taxes until all manner of corrective measures were both taken as well as then duly approved by various state entities.

As such, expect Quincy Quarry to continue to closely follow this apparent instance of taxation without proper authorization.
