Governor Charlie Baker declining a 4.2 percent pay raise puts colleagues in pickle.

 

Per previous legislation, Beacon Hill elected officials pay raises are predicated upon income increases received by state residents.

 

Given the Crash of 2008, these same officials have so also suffered as have regular folk, but things have picked up enough over the past two years to justify providing them with a 4.2 percent pay raise.

 

Governor Charlie Baker, however, has announced that he will not be taking the raise given still ongoing state budget shortfalls.  Few other state officials, however, have followed his lead.

 

With the 2018 state office elections on the horizon, will those taking this raise feel the wraith of voters?
