– News about Quincy from Quincy Quarry News

Quincy hit with the first of likely many snow jobs this winter season.

After putting in a relatively good showing earlier this week on what was but an inch snowfall and which melted by early afternoon, today’s early to mid-morning snow was much less well-addressed.

Shortcomings include no apparent brining of any local streets in advance of this several inch snowfall, unlike the extensive as well as arguably both too early as well as arguably excess brining earlier this week.

Similarly, plowing efforts would appear to have been slow to initiate as well as at least less than impressive on a number of local side streets.

As documented by intrepid Quincy Quarry dog sled photographic personnel, much of Quincy was a snowy slip and slide throughout much of this morning.

In particular, a number of side streets would appear to have received but a single snow plow blade width as well as single plow truck pass.

Salt spreading appeared also sparse, if not all but also useless as to any actually useful impact.

Even more problematic was the failure to see the City Hall VIP parking lot cleared to the pavement before the first light of day per past practices even on weekend days when City Hall is closed.

As such, even the hard-bitten crew at Quincy Quarry would prefer not to think how many heads will be atop pikes before the end of the weekend.

Quincy Quarry considered reaching out to City of Quincy Department of Public Works Commissar Dan “Spanky” Raymondi for comment; however, no one in the newsroom felt that she or he could keep a straight face listening to Spanky go on and on and on and on even more about the hardworking men and (some, ed.) women at the DPW as well as those employed by the city’s various as well as generous snow removal contractors.

The only good news is that by late afternoon, snow on at least the roads has mostly melted as the temperature rose.

Regardless, expect Quincy Quarry to continue to cover yet another winter likely rife with snow jobs in the Q.
