Randolph Police hires a poodle as police dog

Poodles are well-known for their smarts but are not known for police skills.

At least not until now.

The Randolph Police Department has added Larry the Poodle to its ranks.

Larry is a trained therapy dog and his role will be to work a canine community policing beat; specifically, calming those traumatized by traumatic events.

Not commonly known, many police departments have long carried stuffed animals in their cruisers to provide to distraught children – and now the Randolph Police Department is taking things up a notch by adding Larry the Poodle to its ranks.

No argument, police work has always been fraught with the ready potential for danger and worse.

That and trained police dogs have long played important roles in helping to keep the peace.

At the same time, it is good to see the Randolph Police Department take on a new member who is sure to prove expert at quieting all manner of tense situations to the benefit of all concerned.

While the Quincy Quarry crime desk fully expects that Larry’s partner is going to suffer a lot of ribbing in the Randolph Police Department locker room, it is also safe to assume that Larry and his partner are going to very popular around town.
