– News about Quincy from Quincy Quarry News

Quincy Police detail duty coverage falling short around the Q.

On repeated occasions over the past 10 days or so, Quincy Quarry staff while out and about the Q on other activities happened upon multiple instances of significant road work underway in Quincy Center without benefit of the all but invariably required police detail security for most any and all roadway-impacting work not done by City of Quincy employees.

Even more troubling, these work sites were on Hancock Street right in front of City Hall during a weekday morning commute as well as at the busy major intersection of McGrath Highway and Washington Street.

While police officers were seen working detail duty near the work site in front of City Hall, the gaps in detail coverage found by Quincy Quarry are still gaps in coverage.

Although the Quincy Quarry was unable to discern why there was no detail working in front of City Hall, it does generally understand that there were no officers available to work the McGrath Highway and Hancock Street intersection work site on the day that Quarry staff happened by while construction work was in progress.

Quincy Quarry considered reaching out to Quincy Police Department Chief and surely but coincidentally mayoral brother in law Paul “The Beav” Keenan for comment.

However, the City Editor only reasonably assumed that The Beav is currently all but consumed with dealing with questions from federal investigators known to the Quarry to be investigating alleged detail double dipping by at least a senior command level Quincy Police Department officer.

That and surely endeavoring to figure out a plan for dealing with the fast approaching end of the six months suspension without pay of the alleged double dipper and thus the eligibility of alleged dipper to (perhaps, ed.) return to active duty.

Accordingly, expect Quincy Quarry to continue to follow the curious history of recent events involving police detail practices in the Q.
