– News about Quincy from Quincy Quarry News
Quincy power pole whacked and traffic disrupted in a Wollaston residential neighborhood.
The quiet street that is Hobart Street near Highland Avenue was closed off to traffic this morning when a truck took out a power pole.
Apparently, a utility line was hanging too low and was so snagged by the truck per the Quincy Quarry staff member at the scene of this accident.
Of further interest, the so stricken utility pole inexplicably at this time fell down between the truck cab and the trailer is it was pulling.
Regardless of how things actually ended up going down, response personnel were seen on the scene.
What is not yet known is how long power in the area might be out.

Even more problematic: was a Verizon phone line damaged by this accident?
With many Verizon employees currently out on strike, a damaged line could pose major repair issues whereas an undamaged line could be jerry-rigged for continuous use until a replacement utility pole could be installed and the phone line then attached to it.
Essentially the same concerns apply to any Comcast cable also likely downed by this accident other than that Comcast workers are (currently, ed.) not out on strike.
Regardless, expect Quincy Quarry to swing back this evening at the end of its day watch shift and perhaps report back if things are still profoundly Q-ed up at this Quincy accident scene.
