Quincy addresses a pedestrian safety concern in Quincy Center?
In an entirely unexpected move, apparently the City of Quincy has addressed a perceived pedestrian safety concern in Quincy Center.
As such, given Quincy Quarry’s long standing policy of providing balanced and fair coverage, it thus must begrudgingly give city officials some credit for actually doing something for a change as well as in a somewhat timely manner.

The action: putting new pedestrian crosswalk traffic signals at the intersection of Johnson Avenue with Hancock Street.

For those not familiar with Johnson Avenue, it is a roughly hundred foot long city street next to Sullivan Tire which most people probably would think was a private driveway.
In point of fact, however, not only is Johnson Avenue a city street, it even has its own traffic light within the larger intersection that is the Dimmick Street, Adams Street and Hancock Street traffic circus.

 Two “minor” problems, however.
Even though there are new crosswalk lights, there is no crosswalk painted on Johnson Street.
That and how during the time that a Quincy Quarry team monitored this crosswalk, no one even bothered with using the lights, much less abided by them.

Then again, pedestrians in Quincy Center are as likely to jaywalk as drivers are to randomly bang a U on Hancock Street.

Regardless, Quincy Quarry did not bother reach to City of Quincy Department of Public Works Commissar Dan “Spanky” Raymondi for comment.
After all, this situation could provide him with a dubiously plausible opportunity to go on and on and on and on even more about the hardworking men and (some, ed.) women at the DPW while under delusion that the DPW had actually down something to improve local pedestrian safety even though both the Quarry as well as ever increasingly more Quincy residents know better.
