Buzz cuts to fight cancer!

Yet again this year Quincy-based Granite Communications has raised millions by encouraging apparently all but exclusively men to shave their heads to help raise money for research by the world renowned Dana Faber Cancer Institute.

The total raised this year was a record-setting $4.25 million.

Among those agreeing to subject themselves to wiffles include a repeat shearing by Governor Charlie Baker, CEO Granite Telecommunications CEO Rob Hale and so walking the talk, an also repeat close trimming of Quincy Mayor Thomas P. Koch, and the first time (at least at this annual fundraising event, ed.) shearing of the mostly bald head of WGBH’s Greater Boston host Jim Braude.

Braude’s shearing and WGBH coverage video follows below.

Unfortunately, given the press of deadlines and Quincy City Hall’s abject unwillingness to respond to any as well as all Quincy Quarry inquiries, the Quarry was unable to find out if Mayor Koch again insisted that the proceeds for his allowing the shearing of his always coiffed just so hair helmet instead go to the charity of HIS choice and as was the case last year.

That and how even Quincy Quarry has the fundamental grace to know to not to reach out to Granite Communications and so embarrass it by asking it what was done when it was doing a great thing by cancer research in spite of someone’s arguably at least déclassé insistence that it also do otherwise.
