Quincy Snow Jobs 2016, Part Three: A Salt Job Instead.
With the expected major Nor’easter tracking ever more northeasterly, Eastern Massachusetts is looking to yet again be spared much in the way of snowfall during this barely much of a winter.
Given an otherwise slow news week, local media are thus out of luck after pimping this storm all week.

Even Quincy Quarry was party to this media snow partying.
As such, to fill in the already programmed space for coverage on this storm, Quincy Quarry is going to instead run yet another a Snow Job series exposé that it had neglected to run after the last modest local snowfall this winter fell two weeks ago today.
Quincy Quarry news personnel found the response to this somewhat recent storm massive in some ways given the modest snowfall and yet also lacking in others.

Excessive response was best typified by a massive spreading of salt on city streets and – of course – the City Hall VIP parking lot.
In fact, so considerable was the salt spread that it appeared piled deeper than what was little more than a dusting of snow.
So what, apparently, for the fact that this modest snowfall hit on a Saturday and thus City Hall was closed for the weekend.
Additionally, given that a bright morning sun as well as a relatively warm day followed this modest overnight storm, much of the modest snow dusting quickly melted away on uncleared driveways and sidewalks well before mid-morning.

Slip/sliding away to the T

There were also other missteps.
For but one more example, while the City Hall VIP parking lot was deeply salted by the first light of the day, a major city walkway adjacent to City Hall that leads to the Quincy Center MBTA station was left untouched.
Granted, City Hall was closed as it was a Saturday, but straphangers were thus left adrift to slip/slide their way to the Quincy Center T station.
Quincy Quarry considered reaching out to Department of Public Works Works Commissar Dan “Spanky” Raymondi for comment.

Fortunately, however, the Quarry City Editor dispensed Lenten mercy and so did not subject anyone on the staff to listen to Spanky go on and on and on and on even more about the hardworking men and (some, ed.) women at the DPW when – clearly – there wasn’t much work to do, much less also actually done.
In any event, as well as a public safety announcement, Quincy Quarry would like to remind its growing legions of loyal readers of the April Fool’s Blizzard in 1997 and that they should thus keep their shovels and snowblowers at the ready for at least a little while longer.
