– News about Quincy from Quincy Quarry News
Quincy snow jobs continue this winter.
With local taxpayers looking at two more years of $3.7 million installment payments in 2017 ad 2018 to pay off last winter’s record setting and over $13 million in snow removal-related expenses, today’s barely significant five inch on average snow fall does not bode well for the rest of this winter.
Per an admittedly but sampling, at first light this morning, a Quincy Quarry photo team found mostly but saltings of half – or less – of the width of residential side streets.
Conversely, as well as admittedly, major streets appear to have salt cleared from curb to curb.

Also well-cleared at dawn’s first light as per standard – if not also mandatory – practice was the City Hall VIP parking lot even though City Hall was closed for today’s Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr Monday national holiday.
So what, apparently,  that City Hall was closed today for the Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr holiday.
At the same time, it must be noted that construction workers were working bright and early this holiday Monday morning finishing up the still far from finished old City Hall.

Not cleared, however, this morning was Quincy High School’s parking lot nor any of the school’s entry ways.
Then again, school was not in session today given the Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr holiday and thus at least this school was apparently given a lower priority for snow clearing.
Accordingly, Quincy Quarry will continue to monitor this worrisome situation for obvious potential public safety concerns.

Similar curious priorities were found elsewhere around the Q by Quincy Quarry’s intrepid photo crew.
For example, city property sidewalks were not cleared for those on foot who needed to access the Quincy Center MBTA station.
Apparently, city snow response personnel in their haste to clear snow in and around City Hall failed to duly appreciate that some other people also have to work on today’s Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr holiday.
Even so, Quincy Quarry still must report that things appeared otherwise quiet as well as apparently without any obvious major  issues in the wake of today’s modest storm.
Then again, maybe the fact that today was a holiday Monday helped stave of another round of snow daze in the Q.
