Quincy Center traffic lights taken out.
This morning the traffic light controller for the five corner intersection of Whitney Road with Dimmock, Hancock and Adams streets was taken about by an errant driver.
Among other first responders, the Quincy Fire Department equipment responded to the scene and spread kitty litter to soak up motor vehicle fluids spilled onto the street and police had to direct traffic.
The only good news about this latest bad news about trafficking in Quincy is that the accident occurred after the morning commute.

As for the evening commute and Thanksgiving Day travelling tomorrow, who the Q knows.
Plus, since bad things in the Q usually occur in threes and earlier this week a tree and streetlight were taken out at the corner of Hancock Street and Hannon Parkway, one can only assume that the third Q-up is pending shortly.
Further, with this traffic signal controller already slated to be replaced when the Hancock Street misalignment project might actually be finished sometime next year as well as months late, there are obvious concerns about what the City can and will do to replace the damaged traffic control unit with a temporary transitional controller.
Concerns include that the pending new controller is not probably not downward compatible to operate the current signalization system at this long problematic intersection.  That and how it is probably not to be delivered until next year.
Then again, as demonstrated in the following exclusive Quincy Quarry file video of a bagged traffic light on a busy Quincy street, dysfunctional traffic lights in the Q are not exactly new news.

Regardless, expect Quincy Quarry to follow this latest trafficking problem in the Q.
