– Quincy election news from Quincy Quarry News
Quincy mayoral pre-election poll overwhelmingly favors challenger Bill Phelan.
In the first publicly shared for any and all to see preference polling data, the Southshore Broadsheet’s poll results favor challenger and former Mayor Bill Phelan by a margin of almost two to one over the duly embattled incumbent Mayor Thomas P. Koch.
Quincy Quarry did not reach out to the Koch camp for comment as it never responses to deserved pointed questioning of the embattled incumbent mayor as well as given that its key operatives are surely too busy dialing to shakedown even more campaign donations in the wake of the Koch campaign’s setting a new campaign spending record going away by spending over $400,000.00 through merely the recent primary election.

That and knowing that its official spokesmodel Pinocchio Walkbacker is often late to arise after his all too typical late into the night Friday night outings.
In turn, neither has the Quarry reached out the Bill Phelan for Mayor campaign team for comment on this poll so as to maintain Quincy Quarry’s journalist standards of balanced and fair coverage – or, in this case, non-coverage.
Regardless, the Quarry finds these results both viably perhaps valid as well as sufficiently more than at least minimally comporting with the usual statistical margin of error calculations.

Further, the results all but identically –  if not also eerily – mirror the primary election results well within the margin of error wherein embattled incumbent Mayor Thomas P. Koch received only 41% of the vote, less an appropriate further projected drop in support for the duly embattled incumbent after adjusting for his less than compelling performances in this week’s two candidates forums.
Additionally, per word on the increasingly mean streets of the Q of late, the Quincy Quarry political affairs corespondents are surprised that the embattled incumbent did not fare even worse in this poll.

Surely more unsettling to the Koch Maladministration, however, is that Governor Charlie Baker’s endorsement earlier this week – and which was first reported in the news media by Quincy Quarry – would appear to have not had any discernible effect other than perhaps but modestly stemming Koch’s apparently plummeting support.
At the same time, given these polling results, the Governor has to now wonder if the honeymoon is over for at least his relationship with Mayor Koch, if not also for his governorship in general.
Regardless, while the polls were still open on this poll when this Quincy Quarry story was published, it would clearly appear that the Koch Administration has failed to get out the Ward 7/Mount Wollaston Cemetery vote for this poll.

That and – as well as again – lawn political campaign signs don’t vote and which was clearly demonstrated by last month’s primary voting results.
Granted, it is still a bit over three weeks away from November’s general election.
Even so, it would still clearly appear that embattled incumbent Thomas P. Koch is looking to have to make a comeback on the order of even greater than President Harry S Truman’s historic comeback in 1948.
