Quincy adopt a hydrant program turns to abandonment in the gutter?
The much-touted when first announced last month on the fly local adopt a fire hydrant program has apparently devolved to outright abandonment.
Quincy Quarry found a partially-wrapped baby – or at least small – fire hydrant abandoned in the gutter in front of a local restaurant.
One can only wonder if the person or persons who apparently abandoned the hydrant had mistakenly thought that the owner of restaurant who had provided gift certificates for a raffle for hydrant adopters was instead – or at least also – providing a Safe Haven program to drop off hydrants with no questions asked.

Quincy Quarry did not reach out to the restaurateur for comment as the restaurant had not yet opened for the day as well as that the Quarry had other breaking badly stories to cover.
The Quarry also did not reach out to City Hall with questions about this apparent latest failure on top of its many failed previous initiatives.
Obvious reasons why not include that Quincy Quarry knew that City Hall will not respond to the Quarry’s inquiries – nor anyone else – who seeks answers to even but one of the innumerable questions embarrassing for City Hall.

Fortunately, there has not been a major fire in Quincy since last September’s at last report $2.5 million – up from an originally estimated but $1 million – Quincy City Hall fire.
How long the City’s luck will last in this one rare lucky break remains to be seen.
After all, reports are rampant that fire hydrants are missing all over town, however, neither City Hall nor the Quincy Fire Department have addressed this potentially dangerous problem.
Whether – or not – this silence is to avoid causing a panic among already far beyond merely Snow Dazed local residents or merely wishing to not draw attention to the apparent cavalier incompetence of snow clearing and removal efforts around town is as yet unclear.
