Snow Job to Nowhere or perhaps a new Park and Recreation bobsled run?

Quincy appears to be looking at either a Snow Job to Nowhere or perhaps the City of Quincy’s Park and Recreation has decided to build a bobsled run.
At least these are two plausible explanations of the latest curiosity uncovered by the Quincy Quarry during this winter with no apparent end anytime soon.
In previous coverage by the Quarry on out of town and non-union workers caught playing around in the snow at Pageant Field, the Quarry happened upon massive amounts of snow dumped on top of the gravel roadway that goes to the Blacks Creek boat dock and adjacent parking behind Pageant Field.

While the Quarry then found it odd that the snow was so dumped, thus blocking the road which in years past has used to access the boat dock parking lot so it could be utilized as a dumping place for snow, on a scale of 1 to 10 for this winter’s Q-up’s by the City of Quincy, blocking this particular road with snow only rated a 2 or maybe a 3 – tops.
Upon only proper subsequent journalistic follow-up, however, one of the greater examples of Q’ing-up has so been found.
At who only knows how much expense, some of the piled high dumped snow was cleared off the roadway to the dock, so creating what is best described as a bobsled run.

As the parking lot near the suspected bobsled run was full of neatly lined up skip loaders mostly sporting the corporate logos of their out of town owners – but no vehicle license plates, Quincy Quarry could only logically conclude that the suspected bobsled run was built at the behest of the nearby Park and Forestry Department, née Park and Recreation Department.
Plus, Park and Forestry is a part of the City’s snow clearing team.

The Quarry thus considered reaching out to City of Quincy Director of Parks & Forestry Executive Director Chris Cassani for comment, but then it remembered that he had long ago gone to ground after his statement that the long suspect parcourse park project at Quincy High School ” . . . . – to include a new stone wall, benches and parking spaces – should be mostly finished and open to the public in November . . .” proved to be inoperative – save for the fact that he was not specific as which November in what year.
Even so, Quincy Quarry is nothing if not open-minded as to the possibilities as to what was the actual latest plan.

For example, perhaps Park and Forestry just wanted to make sure that there would be access to the boat docks for is annual boating programs and so opted to dig out the massive snow piles that been dumped upon the road.
Whether – or not – the July thaw will allow such programming to happen, however, remains to be seen.
That and how local schools will be in session until the end of June whereas Park and Forestry’s boating programs are usually well under way before the 4th of July.

Further problematic, the expensively dug out roadway only goes much less than half of the way to the dock area, thereby failing to provide access to the docks or facilitating the use of the adjacent parking lot for a snow farm.
As such, Quincy Quarry will continue to monitor this venue to see what harebrained idea is next dreamed up and then funded with taxpayers’ money.
In the meanwhile, at least locals are able to keep active by shoveling snow.
