Quincy residential street snow removal apparently finally commenced on Friday the 13th in advance of the Valentine’s Day Blizzard.
The herein-labeled “Operation Insider” and apparently modest beta test of an actual clearing of a short run of residential side streets curb-to-curb which also entailed the hauling out of snow by truck was conducted on a short quarter mile loop of but short parts of the quiet residential side streets of Dale Avenue, Crest Street and Madison Avenue in Penn’s Hill neighborhood just off of the key secondary local roadway Kendricks Avenue.

While reports suggest that the hauling out of snow by truck was not a priority for residential side streets at the time as so many key roadways were still far from even but poorly plowed, “Operation Insider” went forward anyway.
Amazingly, this effort actually proved successful and thus is arguably the first such residential street clearing success outside of those provided to select streets wherein the most senior of city officials reside.
That a well-paid city employee who is also a lifelong friend of Mayor Koch lives on one of these cleared curb to curb residential side streets is surely but a coincidence.

As such, Quincy Quarry saw no point in reaching to City Hall for comment.
That and knowing all too well that none would be provided.
In the meanwhile, however, even Hancock Street near City Hall is littered and the situation is unlikely to improve anytime soon.
That and in spite of the Operation Insider beta test and a few other reported to have followed haulings out of snow from residential streets notwithstanding, the obvious key shortcoming behind the shortcomings in residential street snow clearing and at at least local public schools continues to be ever more increasingly obvious for all to see.
In the meanwhile, Quincy Quarry must as a public service point out  a nearby and dangerous Penn’s Hill actually important through street – Faxon Lane – and especially its new snow-lined “Dead Man’s Curve.”

As always, Quincy Quarry is the place to turn to keep abreast of all of the seemingly endless breaking badly news in the Q in what is increasingly looking to be a winter without end.
