– News about Quincy MA from Quincy Quarry News
MBTA service is slowly crawling back towards some semblance of semi-functionality.
Understandable frustration with the MBTA during the relentless Winter of 2015 notwithstanding, Quincy Quarry can only properly report that today there was actually an end of an also relatively short line of commuters waiting for buses at Quincy Center this morning.

Similarly, the arguably long ad hoc bus unloading area behind the Quincy Center station was well-cleared to the point of approaching City Hall VIP parking space snow clearing standards.
Then again, it must also be noted that this bus passenger unloading zone was not kept clear 24/7 anywhere near as kept clear was the City Hall VIP parking over even weekends when City Hall was closed as well as during recent weekday City Hall Snow Day closings.
It must further be noted that three remote broadcast vans from three separate broadcast media brethren of Quincy Quarry were at the Quincy Center station as well as that these news crews piling on the T without mercy in spite of this reporter’s suggestion to them that the real local snow disaster story has its locus in nearby City Hall.

Stranded Red Line train

Then again, this latest media feeding frenzy has some valid bases for a change.  Among other problems, at last report the Red Line train that broke down between Quincy Center and Quincy Adams stations was still stranded along Burgin Parkway.
Quincy Quarry will not speculate whether – or not – the sudden resignation of MBTA General Manager Beverly Scott before her widely expected firing had anything to do with the now obvious to the Quarry – but apparently no other media – roughly concurrent improvement in MBTA operations towards a point of merely horrific.
Plus, the Quarry sees no point to bother enabling a scapegoat feeding frenzy other than to note that recently inaugurated Governor Charlie Baker is said to already be well along in setting up the wrought iron fence in front of the Statehouse to display heads on pikes as soon as the snow currently covering the fence melts sufficiently to allow an as yet unknown number of additional heads to be put on display.
In the meanwhile, MBTA Police on the scene at the Quincy Center station were not wearing riot gear today as well as seemed much less tense as compared to recent days.
Similarly, MBTA drivers seen taking breaks between bus route runs appeared to be significantly less stressed than in recent days.

No small part of the improved demeanor of these MBTA personnel surely had to do with the fact that the City of Quincy finally cleared out the massive snow piles in front of the station that had for over two weeks made passage of its buses difficult.
These massive snow piles had in no small way erupted via City of Quincy plowing practices utilized so as to provide unimpaired parking for City Hall employees and long suspected VIP commuter free parking in front of the Quincy Center MBTA station 24/7 since The Blizzard of 2015 hit the Q over two weeks ago.
While City Hall parking grifters were thus further so benefited when these piles were removed, MBTA personnel tacitly acknowledged that at least some public benefit was provided from this taxpayer-funded free parking grift clean-up as it did provide some collateral improvement to the MBTA’s always challenging operations at Quincy Center.

Quincy Quarry must also report that a so-called “Snowzilla” was clearing the tracks in Quincy Center last night.
While the Quarry was not able to collect pictures of this monster in action given that it was operating in apparent covert fashion during the dark of night, the roar of its jet engine gave it away.
Hot air notwithstanding, the T still has a long ways to travel to before it might merely reach its mediocre usual performance.
